IELTS: The IELTS by IDP has now allowed Indian students to retake any one of the four skills that take place in the exam. This is to give each student a fair shot at achieving their desired marks. The IELTS exam takes place in four sections, reading, writing, speaking and listening. Therefore, the student can re-take any of the four sections, in case they were not satisfied with their previous result.
What did the IELTS director say?
Many Universities have already implemented this and other institutions are on their way to doing the same. The managing director of IELTS, Warwick Freeland said, “IELTS One Skill Retake improves fairness by providing an opportunity to retake a single skill if the test taker feels their original performance was not representative of their language proficiency level. We are proud of this initiative that reinforces our commitment to helping test takers achieve their full potential.”. Therefore, the individuals who wish to migrate to foreign countries, this is a second chance
Piyush Kumar, the regional director said, “We listened to our test takers who told us that instead of having to retake the whole test, they wanted the ability to retake one skill of the IELTS test if they didn’t get the score they were aspiring to on test day,” Moreover, he said that, “IELTS One Skill Retake, which is available for both Academic and General IELTS, gives test takers in India a new option and increased flexibility as they get their plans on track. It is currently available across all 47 IELTS computer centres in the country”
When will this be implemented?
For the ones who have opted for the Computer Delivered IELTS test, this feature is currently applicable. However, this is still an ongoing process and is still waiting for recognition from several institutions and governments. So, the test takers are encouraged to keep themselves updated on any news on the official website
