Lucknow: According to the latest Performance Grade Index-District (PGI-D) 2019-20 report, Mathura and Auraiya districts in Uttar Pradesh have the best school education performance, both receiving the grade “Ati-uttam” (scores between 71 and 80 percent).
Mathura had a score of 426 while Auraiya received a score of 423 out of a possible 600.
The third-best grade, ati-uttam, is given to districts with scores between 71 and 80 percent. Only three of the 733 districts graded across the nation that qualified for the Utkarsh category and none for the top category, Daksh, were graded.
The PGI-D scores are the sum of the scores for each district’s performance in each of the following six areas of educational attainment: learning outcomes, effective classroom interactions, infrastructure facilities and student entitlements, school safety and child protection, digital learning, and governance process.
In UP, over 50% of the districts received a “Uttam” grade after scoring between 61 and 70%. The following important districts are rated as Uttam: Allahabad (410), Ghaziabad (396), Agra (371) and Lucknow (369). 33 districts in Uttar Pradesh are included in the Prachesta-1 category, which has scores between 51 percent and 60 percent, including Kanpur Nagar (347), Varanasi (347), and Gorakhpur (355). (346).Two UP districts that were in the Ati-uttam category in 2018–19—Gautam Budh Nagar (419) and Barabanki (411)—fell into the Uttam category in 2019–20.Learning outcomes are worth 290 points, or 48% of the total points, and they quantify the qualitative growth of districts. Mathura, the district that performs the best in UP, received a score of 63% on this front, the lowest of all the parameters.

The lowest score in Auraiya’s instance, however, was 46 percent, while the greatest score, 91 percent, was in the area of school safety and child protection.
Five UP districts are ranked at Prachesta-2 in the report, with scores ranging from 41% to 50%. Pilibhit (292), Kheri (289), Bulandshahr (288), Rampur (285), and Lalitpur (262) are these districts.
The National Achievement Survey (NAS), the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), and information provided by the different districts are the sources of the data for the PGI-D report, which evaluates how well districts do in the field of education.
