University Grants Commission, a Government of India Statutory Organization, seeks to hire Standing Counsel(s)/ Panel Counsel(s) to represent the Commission before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and other High Courts/other judicial bodies for a three-year term.

The University Grants Commission in New Delhi is accepting online applications for empanelment as Standing Counsel(s) and Panel Counsel(s) to represent UGC before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, High Courts, and other judicial bodies around the country for a three-year term.
www.ugc.ac.in/jobs provides information about qualifying criteria, qualifications, fee structure, and other specifics. The deadline for submitting an application online is June 21, 2022.
Qualifications required for each type of Counselor
(i). Standing Counsel: To be considered for a position as a Standing Counsel, a person must:
I. Be enrolled/registered as an advocate with the Supreme Court/High Court.
II. Have a minimum of ten years of experience with civil, criminal, and service-related cases. Counsels having prior experience dealing with academic/educational institutions and statutory organizations will be given preference.
(ii). Panel Counsel: To be eligible for appointment as panel counsel, a person must:
I. Be enrolled/registered as an advocate with the Supreme Court/High Court.
II. Have a minimum of five years of relevant experience managing civil/criminal/service matter cases.
Counsels having prior experience dealing with academic/educational institutions and statutory organizations will be given preference by University Grants Commission

UGC reserves the right for termination as well
University Grants Commission reserves the right to cancel a Counsel’s appointment or empanelment with one month’s written notice and without assigning any reason. By giving one month’s notice, the Counsel may also resign from the Commission.
University Grants Commission, UGC is free to choose any lawyer it wants, and an empaneled lawyer cannot claim that he or she should be entrusted with UGC’s legal matters alone (s)
