The 16th International Education Summit & Skill Development Summit 2023, organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), concluded on May 26, 2023, with resounding success. The summit, held under the theme “Strengthening Social Fabric with Values & Ethics-based Education along with Life-Skills (Aligning with India’s G20 Education Aspirations),” brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including eminent policy makers, educators, and academicians, to discuss and strategize the future of education in India.

The summit commenced with an impactful inaugural address delivered by Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Chairman of the ASSOCHAM National Council on Education and Chancellor of Shobhit University Meerut. His inspiring speech set the tone for the event, emphasizing the need for a holistic educational experience that integrates values, ethics, and life-skills alongside academic knowledge. Mr. Vijendra’s visionary insights laid the groundwork for meaningful discussions throughout the summit.

The event witnessed active participation from renowned policy makers including Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, President, Indian National Science Academy, Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, and Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, NAAC, NETF, & NBA; educators, and academicians who shared their invaluable insights, experiences, and best practices. The technical sessions covered a wide range of topics vital to the future of education, including transforming education for critical, creative, and innovative thinking for the future of work, making tech-enabled learning inclusive and qualitative, strengthening human and institutional capacity for lifelong learning and skill development, promoting values, ethics, and life-skills in education, and aligning education and skill development initiatives with India’s G20 aspirations.

The summit served as a platform for productive dialogue and collaborative exchange of ideas, leading to the identification of challenges and opportunities in the current education landscape. Participants actively contributed to the creation of a roadmap for action, outlining steps necessary for transforming education in India and ensuring a future-ready workforce. The summit’s outcomes include enhanced collaboration among stakeholders, adoption of innovative strategies, targeted interventions and policy recommendations, and increased awareness and commitment towards the transformation of the education sector.
