The National Medical Commission (NMC) has also advised not to study medicine in Pakistan. The public notice issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) comes after a joint suggestion by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) that Indian students should be admitted to any college or educational institution in Pakistan. I should not enroll myself. Students doing so will not be eligible to find a job or pursue higher education in India.

In a public notice issued by the NMC on April 29, it has been said that no Indian student should register to study medicine in Pakistan. An Indian student or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) who wishes to take admission in MBBS, BDS or equivalent course in any college, university or institution in Pakistan should be aware that he/she can get a job in India on the basis of the degree held there. or FMGE will not be eligible for the exam.

However, students holding such a degree before the year 2018 can get exemption after special permission from the Union Home Ministry. Students pursuing medical studies abroad have to clear the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination-National Exit Test (FMGE-NEXT) to practice in India. However, refugees and their children pursuing higher education degrees in Pakistan are allowed to appear in the FMGE exam after getting a security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Earlier, the University Grants Commission i.e. UGC and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) had also warned Indian students. Both the regulators had said that Indian students should not go to Pakistan for higher education as the degree there is not valid in India. However, both the regulators had also given relief to the refugees from Pakistan. Regulators had said that higher education degrees of refugees who have got Indian citizenship can be considered eligible for India jobs after the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
