UGC Assistant Professor Eligibility: A major update has come out for the eligibility criteria required for direct recruitment to the vacant posts of Assistant Professor in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The University Grants Commission (UGC) has made NET/SET/SLET a mandatory qualification for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in Central Universities, State Universities, Deemed Universities and Private Universities as well as colleges affiliated to all these and other higher education institutions across the country. determinegiven.UGC recently issued a notification in this regard on 30 June 2023.

UGC Assistant Professor Eligibility: NET/SET/SLET mandatory for recruitment of Assistant Professor

According to the notification issued by the UGC on June 30 for the direct recruitment of Assistant Professor, the candidates for applying for the posts of Assistant Professor for various subjects have to pass the National Eligibility Test (NET) or in the case of recruitment in universities and degree colleges of various states. DidMust have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET or SLET).

UGC Assistant Professor Eligibility: PhD became optional for the recruitment of Assistant Professor

UGC has changed the rules issued earlier regarding the recruitment of assistant professors in universities and degree colleges. According to the rules announced earlier by UGC, for the recruitment of Assistant Professor for subjects related to Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Law, Social Sciences, Sciences, Languages and Physical Education, candidates should have PG and UGC NET with minimum 55% marks in the concerned subject. Apart from this, as per the amended rules, candidates having PhD in the concerned subject could also apply.
