SSC recruitment scam: In connection with their ongoing investigation into the alleged fraudulent recruitment of teachers by the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC), the CBI questioned West Bengal Education Secretary Manish Jain for a number of hours on Thursday, a central agency official said.
According to CBI sources, the detectives interrogated Jain for many hours after he arrived at the Nizam Palace of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at 11:30 am.

Sources claim that the CBI was informed by Jain that the file for the advisory committee’s formation had allegedly been sent to the SSC. As a result, the CBI summoned Jain to ask him on whose recommendation or instruction the advisory committee was formed.
In the past, the CBI questioned Paresh Chandra Adhikary, a minister of state for education, and Partha Chatterjee, a former minister of education, in relation to allegations of corruption in the hiring of teachers. Additionally, the detectives questioned former advisory committee chairman Shanti Prasad Singh.
According to CBI sources, Jain’s name cropped up during the course of the investigation.
Notably, the High Court is still hearing many instances involving the purported teacher recruiting scam, SSC recruitment scam. The High Court ordered the CBI to look into the alleged scam in teacher hiring after receiving complaints from SSC empanelled candidates that they were denied employment despite being placed on the merit list.
