Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology, (NAAC ‘A’ Grade Accredited Deemed-to-be University) Meerut is pleased to inform that VLS Finance Limited, New Delhi has granted a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund of Rupees 1,15,72000/- to a team of researchers working at the School of Biomedical Engineering of the University.
‘3D Printed Heterogeneous Hydrogel Patch for Wound Healing’
The team of researchers is working towards developing a “3D Printed Heterogeneous Hydrogel Patch for Wound Healing.” Chronic wounds are a major source of suffering and financial burden, affecting 1-2% of people in developed countries, and advanced wound care industry, focusing on surgical wounds and chronic ulcers, is forecasted to reach $15-22 billion by 2024.
The outcome of the study will also reduce the economic burden of pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, and arterial insufficiency ulcers-related complications by providing a promising solution for wound healing, and could potentially be a new avenue for wound dressing production. The outcome will also bring relief to the 6+ million individuals suffering from physical and emotional distress, low self-esteem, depression, self-neglect, and social isolation.
