On 7th February, 2025, the Training & Placement Office (TPO) of DME Law School conducted Law Conclave, Juris Connect ’25 for 4th year law students. More than 200 students took part in the event. The event was a grand success as it brought together legal luminaries and aspiring law professionals for an insightful Panel Discussion on “AI in the Legal Profession: Augmentation, Not Replacement – Navigating the Future of Legal Practice.” This event was one of a kind as it was graced by the Partners and Associates from the Tier-1 Law Firms across India. The esteemed guests invited to the event included Ms. Megha Mishra, Senior Partner, Karanjawala & Co., Mr. Kartik Yadav, Partner, DSK Legal, Mr. Aditya Vikram, Partner, Luthra & Luthra, Ms. Nimisha Trehan, Counsel, Khaitan & Co., Mr. Rohit Kumar, Associate, Karanjawala & Co., Ms. Sumedha Chadha, Senior Associate, DSK Legal.
After the inaugural ceremony, the Panel Discussion was led by these esteemed speakers on issues related to integration of AI in legal research, contract analysis, predictive analytics, and automation of repetitive tasks. The panellists emphasized how AI can enhance efficiency, reducing workload for lawyers and ensuring precision in legal documentation. However, concerns over data privacy, ethical implications, and the inability of AI to replace human judgment in complex legal reasoning were also highlighted. The event was also graced by the esteemed presence of Ms. Nishtha Sahni, Vice-Chairperson, Delhi Metropolitan Education, Prof. (Dr.) Ravikant Swami, Director, DME and, Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Kaur Randhawa, Head of the Department, DME Law School, Ms. Vaishanavi Srivastava and Dr. Gargi Bhatt, Faculty- Incharges, TPO.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students and professionals exchanged thoughts on the ethical use of AI in legal practice followed by Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Kaur Randhawa. The event underscored the importance of striking a balance between AI-driven innovation and the indispensable human intellect in the legal profession.
