The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has made significant announcements regarding the upcoming board exams in 2024. Notably, students will no longer have the option to apply for re-evaluation, citing delays in result declaration and technical reasons. Additionally, changes in remuneration for teachers marking answer sheets have been introduced.
Discontinuation of Re-evaluation
In a recent official notification, PSEB declared the discontinuation of the re-evaluation facility for board exams starting March 2024. This decision aims to address the inconvenience caused to examinees due to result delays and technical issues. However, the option for re-checking of answer sheets will remain available.
Increased Remuneration for Teachers
PSEB has raised the remuneration for teachers responsible for marking Class 10 and Class 12 answer sheets. Teachers evaluating Class 10 papers will now receive Rs 8.50 per marked sheet, up from Rs 6.25, while those grading Class 12 papers will be paid Rs 10 per marked sheet, an increase from Rs 7.50. These changes will be effective from the March 2024 examinations.
Exam Schedule
The board has also released the exam schedule, with Class 10 exams scheduled from February 13 to March 5, 2024, and Class 12 exams from February 13 to March 30, 2024. The exams will take place from 11 am to 2:15 pm.
Reforms in Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools
PSEB is set to implement significant changes in 11 Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools, focusing on activities, infrastructure, financial reforms, and teacher training. Standardization of uniforms, morning assembly prayers, school songs, and logos is part of the initiative.
Innovations in Group Classes
To enhance teaching efficiency, PSEB will align the timetable of group classes in these schools. This ensures that during a teacher’s absence or vacation, students using online platforms can be taught by a teacher from another school. A dedicated website for Group 11 Adarsh Schools will also be created, linked to the Board’s website.
