Responding to the intense cold wave, the Haryana government has decided to extend the closure of all schools for Class 1 to 5 until January 27. Despite the holiday extension, teaching and non-teaching staff are required to attend school as usual.
Closure Decision
The announcement comes after the government considered the severe cold weather conditions, impacting both government and private schools. This decision follows the reopening of schools in Haryana on Tuesday after a 22-day holiday.
Extension in Chandigarh
Mirroring Haryana’s decision, the Chandigarh administration has also declared an additional week of winter vacation for students up to Class 5. However, schools for higher classes may resume, with strict safety measures in place against the intense cold.
Safety Measures
The administration’s order emphasizes that if schools decide to conduct classes for higher classes, they must ensure necessary safety measures. Schools are instructed to close by 4 pm and should not reopen before 9:30 am.
