Delhi University has taken a significant step towards promoting mental well-being among its students by introducing a course on the “Science of Happiness” in collaboration with the Rekhi Foundation. This initiative aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to lead fulfilling lives and cultivate a positive mindset. Here’s what you need to know about this exciting development.
Curriculum Development
The curriculum for the “Science of Happiness” course will be developed and provided by the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness. However, Delhi University reserves the right to tailor the curriculum to meet the specific needs of its students and academic structure.
Course Structure
Initially, the course will be offered as an elective subject, allowing students to explore the principles of happiness alongside their primary areas of study. Over time, the university may consider expanding the course into a major or minor subject, reflecting its growing importance in today’s world.
Key Collaborators
Delhi University, along with five of its women’s colleges, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness. This partnership will facilitate the implementation of the course and the establishment of a Center of Excellence for the Science of Happiness within the participating colleges.
Participating Colleges
The initial rollout of the “Science of Happiness” course will take place in five women’s colleges affiliated with Delhi University. These colleges include Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Gargi College, Indraprastha Women’s College, Miranda House, and Daulat Ram College.
