Letter of Acceptance (LOA)
When applying for a study permit, students must include a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from their chosen school. This letter can be in either its original form or as an electronic copy.
Conditional Acceptance
If admitted conditionally, students must complete requisite courses before starting the main study program. A study permit will be issued for the duration of these courses plus one year. After being accepted into the main program, a new study permit application is required for an extended stay.
Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)
Most students need to submit a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from the province or territory where they intend to study. However, this requirement doesn’t apply to those pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees.
Exemptions from PAL Requirement
Students are exempt from submitting a PAL if they fall under certain categories:
