(Nasdaq: IDCC), a renowned mobile and video technology research and development company, to pioneer the advancement of 6G enabling technologies. This partnership aims to revolutionize wireless standards, impacting a range of futuristic applications, including the metaverse, holographic communications, and digital twins.
Unlocking the Potential of 6G
As part of this collaboration, InterDigital will sponsor research and innovation at IIT-K to propel the development of Extreme MIMO (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output) systems. These cutting-edge technologies are poised to achieve remarkable spectrum efficiency and expand network coverage, essential for the successful deployment of 6G networks.
Prof. S Ganesh, Officiating Director at IIT Kanpur, emphasized the pivotal role of academia in shaping 6G technology. He underscored that this partnership aligns seamlessly with India’s ambition to lead the 6G revolution, highlighted by the release of the Bharat 6G Vision Document and the establishment of the 6G R&D Test Bed.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration in fueling innovation, underlining InterDigital’s commitment to working with leading universities and institutions in India to contribute to wireless standards bodies like 3GPP and TSDSI.
