Professor Manuradha Chaudhary has been appointed as the new Dean of Students (DoS) at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) with effect from October 12, 2023. She will succeed Professor Sudhir Pratap Singh for a period of three years.
About Professor Manuradha Chaudhary
Professor Chaudhary is a Professor in the Centre of Russian Studies and School of Language Literature and Cultural Studies at JNU. She has been teaching and researching in the field of Russian literature and culture for over 25 years. She has also held various administrative positions in the university, including Chairperson of the Centre of Russian Studies and Dean of the School of Language Literature and Cultural Studies.
Professor Chaudhary’s appointment as Dean of Students is a significant development, as she is the first woman to hold this position in the university’s history. She is also a well-respected scholar and teacher, and her appointment is likely to be welcomed by the JNU community.
Additional Information
In addition to her duties as Dean of Students, Professor Chaudhary will continue to serve as Professor in the Centre of Russian Studies and School of Language Literature and Cultural Studies. She will be paid an honorarium of Rs 3,500 per month for performing this additional responsibility.
