“DST has made the decision to combine KVPY and INSPIRE. Beginning in 2022, the KVPY aptitude test will no longer be administered. Ongoing KVPY fellows will continue to receive fellowship in accordance with DST standards, according to it’s website.

The DST created and supported the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, a national fellowship programme in the basic sciences. The chosen KVPY fellows, whose selection was carried out through a national level entrance examination, were given generous fellowships up to the pre-PhD level.

DST’s goal for the INSPIRE initiative is to avoid using competitive exams to find talent at all levels. It depends on the effectiveness of the current educational system for talent discovery. Talented students can apply for internships, fellowships, and scholarships through the programme.

The INSPIRE fellowship programme employs a two-stage selection procedure that begins with an internal committee reviewing qualified applications before moving on to an expert committee for final selection.
