Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the significance of multidisciplinary education during the inauguration of Odisha Research Centre. He advised IITs and IIMs to venture beyond their respective areas of specialization and embrace a multi-disciplinary approach, aligning with the National Education Policy, 2020.
Odisha Research Centre’s Scope of Research
The newly established Odisha Research Centre will conduct extensive research in various domains, including art, culture, archaeology, tradition, literature, sociology, political processes, agriculture, commerce, business, industry, development trends, science, technology, healthcare, future technologies, smart cities, climate change, environmental protection, sustainable development, semiconductors, rare earths, and advanced minerals.
Roadmap for Odisha’s Development
Pradhan envisioned the Odisha Research Centre playing a pivotal role in shaping the state’s future. He expressed his belief that the center will develop a comprehensive roadmap for the development of Odisha and the Odia language by 2036, coinciding with the state’s centenary, and by 2047, marking the centenary of India’s independence.
Collaborative Effort for Odisha’s Advancement
The establishment of the Odisha Research Centre marks a collaborative effort between the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Indian Knowledge Systems Division of the Ministry of Education, IIM Sambalpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Bhubaneswar. This collective endeavor aims to develop innovative epistemological frameworks to explore Odisha’s rich history, culture, economy, and society.
