AICTE: According to a Learning Assessment Survey conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), engineering first-year students in major subjects struggle more with mathematics, which is reeling from the woes of engineering education in the country.
The survey, conducted to assess the quality of technical education and identify learning gaps affecting employment prospects of engineering graduates, found civil engineering students to be the “least performers” in “basic subjects”.

Results of a survey involving 1.29 million students from 2,003 AICTE-approved institutions between September and June 7 this year show that the struggle with mathematics as prescribed at the level of basic education in primary school still persists. Schooling system for most of the students.
The survey was conducted through a specially designed online test called PARAKH. In addition to an aptitude test for all levels, first year students were tested on physics, chemistry and mathematics, while second, third and fourth year students were assessed on their proficiency in their specialty.
