Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has recently decided to include covid-19 management and climate change in class 10th syllabus from the recent 2022-23 academic year, said Education minister, S R Dash.
The Minister said that the state has already experienced three covid-19 waves and inclusion of studies about the Covid pandemic in the syllabus will keep the younger generation prepared for the future.
And the thought of including climate change in the syllabus is also the same as it would allow students to be aware of natural calamities that are affecting the state most often and also the impact of climate change on human society.
“It is a global threat and students should be aware of it,” Dash said. COVID-19 management and climate change will be included in the syllabus in the second term of the current academic year.
Due to the pandemic situation, only 75 per cent of the syllabus was taught in the last couple of years, but from the current academic session, 100 per cent of the class 10 syllabus will be covered and questions asked accordingly in the board examinations, the minister said.
On Saturday, the board notified the syllabus breakup and scheme assessment for the years 2022-23, it is now approved by the school and mass education department in June 2022.
