ICMAI CMA students questioned why the tests for the CMA had to be taken online when other exams, like the UPSC, could be taken offline.
Candidates for the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification launched an online protest against poor management throughout the current foundation, intermediate, and final exams. The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) administers the CMA exams twice a year, in June and December.
Candidates aired their worries at #cmaexams on Twitter, where they urged the ICMAI to correct its path and hold the tests offline. Students questioned why the CMA exams needed to be taken online whereas other tests, including those for the UPSC, could be taken offline. If UPSC can conduct online, then why can’t we? Why online,” a Twitter user asked in response to his worry.
Students complained of poor facilities at the exam centres and said that many of them do not even have a proper internet connection. “This is a professional exam? Management is zero, phones are allowed ( in some centres), today, 40% of students have not given exams due to internet and other failures. I think the institute is doing trial and error thing with our exam systems and every time there is a new problem,” wrote a user.

“Exam cancelled in Ranchi due to bad internet connection. Only a few students get chance to connect their system with wifi, rest were just sitting and in the last, they cancelled the exam. When will be it rescheduled? Why didn’t you take care of these things earlier?” wrote another user.
The ICMAI CMA tests for the Intermediate and Final courses, which started on June 27, are expected to end on July 3. On July 8, there will be a Foundation course exam.
