Pradhan lays substructure stone for IIT Kanpur’s med school, saying “whole world will benefit”

NEW DELHI: On July 16, 2022, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid the foundation stone for Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology and Yadupati Singhania Super Specialty Hospital at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.

In the session, the Minister said “IIT Kanpur is such an institution which has made its place on the strength of its dedication and effort. This institute has always been committed towards the upliftment of humanity and society.”

During the session, he also said that the medical facilities that will be starting in IIT Kanpur from today on are going to be beneficial for the adjoining districts and states. “We believe that these institutes will develop into prestigious research institutes in the medical field and the whole world will benefit from them,” he said.

He further said that by adopting new technology and skill-based education, “we have to promote research and innovation. Alternative energy research will have to be given special attention to meet the energy sector’s own needs”.

IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar said, “The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences & Technology is one of its kind initiative focussing on the state of the research in medical sciences and related technologies in India by bridging the gap between healthcare and engineering disciplines.”

Adding to his statement the Director of IIT Kanpur said, “The school envisages providing technological solutions to unmet medical needs in the country and the application of technology in health care delivery”.
