For 2019–20, Haryana is ranked at Level 3, while Punjab and Chandigarh are ranked at Level 2. Delhi, Puducherry, Gujarat, and Kerala are also included in Haryana’s category.

Punjab, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Gujarat are among the top performers in the analysis. There are no states in Level-1.

The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), Ministry of Education, released the Performance Grading Index for Districts (PGI-D) for 2018-19 and 2019-20 today. The analysis assessed the performance of the school education system at the district level by creating an index for comprehensive analysis.

Chandigarh, Gujarat, and Kerala were put in Level 3 in the 2018-19 analysis, while Maharashtra and Delhi were assigned to Level 4.

Haryana was assigned to Level 5, along with Punjab, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Puducherry, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh.

Through an internet portal, districts filled out the data. The state Education Departments anticipate assistance from the PGI-D in identifying performance gaps at the district level and enhancing it in a decentralised manner.

The PGI-D framework includes 83 indicators with a combined weight age of 600 points that are arranged into six categories: outcomes, effective classroom transactions, infrastructural facilities and student entitlements, school safety and child protection, digital learning, and governance process.
