Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently marked a significant milestone by inaugurating a slew of educational and healthcare projects across India, totaling a staggering Rs. 13,375 crore investment. Here’s a breakdown of the key highlights.
PM Modi Unveils Educational Initiatives
In a bid to bolster India’s educational infrastructure, PM Modi inaugurated several prestigious projects. These include the permanent campuses of IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, and IIT-Jammu, enhancing the academic landscape and fostering innovation and research in these regions. Additionally, the inauguration of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design, and Manufacturing in Kancheepuram promises to contribute to the growth of the IT sector, while the establishment of the Indian Institute of Skills in Kanpur aims to nurture vocational training and skill development.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for five Kendriya Vidyalaya campuses, one Navodaya Vidyalaya campus, and five multipurpose halls for Navodaya Vidyalayas, furthering the government’s commitment to providing quality education across the country.
Healthcare Milestones
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur, Jammu, sets a new standard in healthcare with its cutting-edge facilities and expansive campus. Equipped to deliver tertiary-care services, AIIMS boasts a comprehensive setup, including a medical college with 125 seats, a nursing college with 60 seats, and an AYUSH block with 30 beds. This integration of conventional and alternative medicine practices ensures a holistic approach to healthcare, catering to diverse medical needs.
Spanning over an impressive 227 acres, the AIIMS campus accommodates 720 beds, providing ample capacity to serve the community. Beyond patient care, the campus offers residential quarters for faculty and staff, fostering an environment conducive to medical education and research. Moreover, the inclusion of a shopping complex adds to the convenience of patients and visitors, enhancing their overall experience at the institute.
Empowering Communities
Under the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu’ programme, Prime Minister Modi took a significant step towards empowering communities in Jammu and Kashmir. As part of this initiative, he distributed appointment letters to approximately 1,500 newly recruited government employees, providing employment opportunities and strengthening governance in the region.
