As a severe cold wave grips Uttar Pradesh, District Magistrates in Lucknow and Agra have ordered the closure of schools for classes 1 to 8. All schools are instructed to conduct classes online until further notice.
School Closure Details
Schools in Lucknow are closed until January 27, 2024, and in Agra until January 24, 2024, due to extreme cold, dense fog, and severe weather conditions.
Online Operations Order
All schools from nursery to class 12 in Lucknow are directed to close physical operations and operate in online mode as per the District Magistrate’s orders.
Changes in Agra
In Agra, classes 9 to 12 will now be conducted from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm, adjusting timings in response to the cold wave.
DM’s Instructions to Schools
To mitigate the impact of the cold weather and extended breaks on education, Lucknow’s District Magistrate advises schools to run online classes. Additionally, the compulsion for school uniforms has been abolished, allowing students to wear warm clothes.
Additional Instructions
School principals are instructed to install heaters for classroom temperature control. The directive emphasizes that children should not be made to sit in open grounds for pre-board and practical examinations.
Closure Duration
Lucknow schools up to class 8 have been closed since December 28, 2024. Despite the harsh weather conditions, the recent notice aims to bring minor relief to schools, students, and parents.
