The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has recently released the school holiday calendar for the upcoming 2024 session, bringing notable changes to the summer vacation duration and addressing rumors regarding the celebration of anniversaries of great men.
Extended Summer Vacation
In a significant shift from the previous year, Bihar schools will observe a 30-day summer vacation, starting from April 15, 2024, to May 15, 2024. This extension, compared to the 20 days last year, aims to provide students and staff with a more extensive break.
Clarification on Anniversaries and School Operations
Addressing rumors surrounding school holidays and the celebration of great men’s anniversaries, the BSEB clarified that there would be no changes in the number of holidays this year. The board emphasized that schools have consistently remained open and commemorated the birth anniversaries of notable figures.
Structured Holiday Calendar to Meet RTE Act Requirements
The BSEB outlined that the holiday calendar is meticulously structured to ensure compliance with the Right to Education (RTE) Act, with a focus on achieving the mandated 220 teaching days. Additionally, the directive extends to all government, state, and minority-aided Urdu schools across primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels, maintaining uniformity in the academic schedule. Urdu primary, middle, and higher secondary schools, including maktabs, are instructed to observe a weekly holiday on Friday. Despite this, these schools will remain open on Sundays, aligning with the specified operational guidelines.
This comprehensive announcement from the BSEB aims to provide clarity on the academic calendar, ensuring a well-structured and uniform schedule for schools across Bihar.
