The Techno Global University, Shillong Polytechnic Campus, Mawlai, Shillong, Meghalaya, finds itself excluded from the list of universities approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The decision stems from revelations made on the university’s official website, raising concerns about its academic activities.
UGS’s Statement on Techno Global University
According to the UGC, the official website of Techno Global University, Shillong, explicitly states that the university has never initiated any academic activity since its inception. Additionally, the university claims to have never issued any mark-sheet, certificate, or degree to any individual, nor has it authorized any person or institution to act on its behalf.
Reasons Behind Removal
The decision to remove Techno Global University from the official list is rooted in the university’s non-existent academic presence. Despite being established by the Government of Meghalaya as a State Private University and initially enlisted in the UGC list in January 2013, the Education Department of Meghalaya recommended its removal in a letter dated September 27, 2022. The university’s lack of existence prompted this official directive.
