KV: Admissions offered to kids who lost both the parents in covid-19

In the harsh times of the Covid-19 pandemic, many innocent kids lost both their parents due to the deadly virus. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has decided to help these kids. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has decided to give admission to such kids at no cost. The decision came under the scheme of PM cares for children scheme.

From classes 1st to 12th, the students will be provided free admissions. This scheme is aimed to ensure the protection and intensive care of these children and empower their wellbeing via health insurance, the scheme empowers these students via education with financial support upon reaching the age of 23.

“These kids would be admitted in different classes as per their age and their admission would be over and above the strength of the respective classes,” KVS officials said. Moreover, they would be provided education free of cost right from class 1 to class 12 wherein they would be exempted from tuition fees, Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (VVN) charges, etc.

“The admission under this category would be given by the KV concerned on the recommendation of the district magistrate of the district concerned. The DM can recommend a maximum of 10 students per school with a rider of two students per class,” the officials said.

 “The DM of the district concerned has been given the list of the children who are eligible to get the benefits as per the scheme and KVs would admit such kids as per the recommendation of the DM”, confirmed the development Assistant Commissioner, KVS Varanasi, B Dayal said.

And to implement the decision, the admission guidelines of KVS have been amended already. The deputy commissioner (academics) of KVS has instructed all the regional offices about the admission under the “PM Cares for Children scheme”.

A total of 4,058 eligible beneficiaries have been registered in PM cares children scheme and also been received from the Union Ministry of Education and that now has been shared with principals of Kendriya Vidyalaya by their respective ROs.

There are nine KVs in the Prayagraj district alone. The other cities which have KVs under Varanasi regional office include Mughalsarai, Ballia, Chitrakoot, Varanasi (4), Deoria, Azamgarh, Basti, Salempur, Chopan, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur (2), Mau, Rihand Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Sultanpur, Gonda, Mankapur, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, Mirzapur, Amethi, and Bhadohi.

There are around 1,240 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools across India and three KV schools abroad (Tehran, Kathmandu, and Moscow) with students approx 13 lakhs and employees of over 48,314.
