Justice Gangopadhyay directed the CBI to register a case and initiate investigation in connection with the alleged illegal appointments in primary schools.

The petitioner, who appeared in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in the year 2014, has alleged that out of around 23 lakh candidates, 269 candidates were given an extra ‘one’ mark for a wrong question. The court directed that the salaries of these teachers teaching in various schools in the state be withheld and they should not be allowed to enter their respective places of work.

Chakravarti Bagchi and Bhattacharya appeared before the CBI officials following the High Court’s direction and were interrogated for more than four hours.
