The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has designated the Bhartiya Shiksha Board (BSB) as a pan-India school education body, gaining approval from the Union Education Ministry’s higher education department. This transformative step signifies a major stride for the BSB, established in 2019 with a mission to provide students a comprehensive education that harmoniously integrates traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern science and technology.
Recognizing Equivalence and Embracing Traditional Wisdom
AICTE has officially acknowledged the BSB’s equivalence to other national school boards like CBSE and ICSE, extending this recognition to engineering and technical institutes/colleges. The BSB, founded under the Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan (MSRVVP) on March 9, 2019, is now granted equivalence by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for Class 10 and 12 board examinations. The AIU endorsement solidifies the BSB’s role as a mainstream school board within India.
Transforming Learning with a Special Curriculum Approach
The heart of the BSB’s initiative lies in reforming education by embracing the Gurukul system and Bhartiya Gyan Parampara (Indian knowledge tradition) while moving away from the Macaulay education program imposed during the British era. By fostering respect for India’s diverse cultural identity through all-Indian textbooks and incorporating regional literature, the BSB curriculum emphasizes STEAM competencies. Science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics are at the forefront, supplemented by computer programming, vocational training, yoga, sports, and the fine and performing arts. The curriculum employs a Four-Block learning model, emphasizing skill development across all domains.
