IIT Delhi will design a curriculum to train students in the different aspects of Robotics and Automation that will enable them to pursue higher education and diverse career pathways in the field. In this regard, the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) signed an MoU with I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Delhi to design a Robotics and Automation curriculum for the Schools of Specialized Excellence (SoSE) under the Delhi government.

“It is crucial that schools today begin to provide courses and curricula that go beyond the standard disciplines. According to Himanshu Gupta, Director of Education, DBSE, “the future will value people who arrive with an adept skill set in areas of new generation technologies like Robotics, Automation, ML, and AI, which is going to be the norm of operating for every sector in the near future.

The SoSE has put IHFC in charge of designing the syllabus, which will be more progressive and industry relevant in terms of Robotics and Automation that includes Mechanics, Electronics, Robotics programming IoT etc. The whole idea is to curate teaching material and content for ease of learning, claims IIT-Delhi.

After four years of specialised study in the field of robotics and automation, IHFC will work with industry partners and players to develop an industry-relevant curriculum that will make SoSE students marketable in aspirational employment roles. Additionally, it will assist in creating experiential learning opportunities for the students, such as internships, apprenticeships, guest lectures, masterclasses, visits, and projects, which will contribute to an immersive and hands-on learning for the students, by lending the expertise of industry partners, academic partners, and IHFC alumni.

“It is crucial that pupils are exposed to a set of learning abilities from a young age, which will prepare them better to tackle the technologically advanced industry and the world tomorrow. We want everyone to be prepared to deal with the technologically advanced environment that we will soon be living in, according to Dr. SK Saha, a professor at IIT Delhi and the project director for IHFC.

Teachers will also be supported and mentored by IHFC as they make this shift in addition to being actively involved in their identification, onboarding, and capacity building.
