Along with Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas under the Central Government, as well as government teacher recruitment coming out in various states, a Bachelor of Education ie B.Ed degree is necessary under the mandatory qualification. It is generally believed that B.Ed is mandatory for applying for teacher jobs at primary, upper primary, secondary, senior secondary level in government and private schools.
However, this is not the case in all cases. B.Ed is not mandatory in all direct recruitment of government teachers and one of them is the post of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) Computer Science. Recruitment of PGT Computer Science in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and government and private schools of the states comes out from time to time and B.Ed is not necessary to apply for these posts.
What is the eligibility for PGT Computer Science
For the recruitment of PGT Computer Science Lecturer at High School (9th & 10th) and Intermediate (11th & 12th) level, candidates must have BE/B.Tech in Computer Science or IT. B.Tech in any stream and PG Diploma in Computer or M.Sc in Computer Science or Master of Computer Application (MCA) or Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) or B or C level of DOEACC can also apply.
Additionally, candidates having Post Graduate in any discipline and PG Diploma in Computer are also eligible.
