In a statement, DTA President Hansraj Suman stated that a group of teachers from 12 institutions had met him and told him that a vast number of teaching & non-teaching staff are not receiving their salaries on time and were in financial trouble consistently.

“The teachers in some colleges have not received their salaries for two months. The teachers have told Suman that months have passed since they were promoted and they have not been paid arrears to date. Similarly, the medical bills have not been cleared,” the statement said.

Not only salary payments have been affected because of the non-release of grants but medical bills, retirement benefits and other development expenses are also pending in the college, he further added.

The DTA President demanded from the Delhi government that the arrears of the promotion of the college teachers should also be released. “The DTA has urged the Delhi CM and deputy CM to help the 12 government-funded colleges without delay in releasing the funds. Then the teachers’ salaries and other dues are paid to the teachers and staff in this adamant time,” the statement stated.

DDU College teachers went on Dharna inside the premises on June 17, 2022. Allegations of non-payment of funds to the Delhi government-funded Delhi University (DU) colleges were raised. Apart from DDU other DU colleges such as Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Science for women, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Science, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Bhagini Nivideta College, Acharya Narendra Dev College, Maharishi Balmiki College of Education, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science, and Maharaja Agrasen College are also facing the same issue.

In a statement released on June 17, 2022, DUTA demanded a special meeting of the ‘Executive Council’.

The statement pointed out that numerous DU colleges were short of funds to pay the salaries of their academic and non-academic staff due to the non-release of funds from the City government.
