The Ministry of Education has officially extended the deadline for submitting applications under the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the 2024-25 academic year. As per the latest notice, the last date for applying through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is now September 30, 2024. This extension allows both new applicants and renewal candidates additional time to complete their registration.
“It is hereby notified that the last date for uploading the application of fresh candidates selected for NMMSS beneficiaries for the year 2024-2025, as well as renewals, is extended up to 30.09.2024. The heads of the institutions are requested to inform the students and ensure registration within the stipulated time,” the official notice reads.
How to Apply for NMMSS Through NSP
To apply, students need to visit the official website at scholarships.gov.in and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR). Once registered, each applicant will receive a unique 14-digit number based on their Aadhaar or Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). According to the portal, “OTR simplifies the scholarship application process, eliminating the need for registration every year.”
Required Documents for NMMSS Application
Applicants should have the following documents ready. The specific requirements depend on the scheme, so it is important to verify which documents are mandatory for the NMMSS application:
- Active mobile number (Android-based)
- Personal details: Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Domicile State
- School enrollment number
- Class 10th and Class 12th details (roll number, percentage, mark sheet)
- Competitive exam details (if applicable)
- Ration Card or PPPID
- Aadhaar details or Aadhaar Enrolment slip
- Complete address and domicile certificates (if required)
- UDID number (for differently-abled students)
Troubleshooting Face Authentication Issues in OTR
If students face issues with face authentication during the OTR process, the government’s notice advises checking whether the Aadhaar holder has locked their biometrics. They can unlock their biometric details using the mAadhaar app or the My Aadhaar portal before proceeding with face authentication.
For further details, students can visit the NSP website and refer to the guidelines provided.
