Indian Bank has launched a recruitment drive to fill 300 local officer positions in the Junior Management Grade (JMG) scale across five states. The application process, which began on August 31, is set to close on September 2. Candidates interested in securing a position must be proficient in the local language of the state they wish to apply for, as this is a key requirement in the selection process.
Vacancy Details
The 300 vacancies are spread across Tamil Nadu/Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, with the majority of positions available in Tamil Nadu/Puducherry. Here’s a breakdown of the openings:
- Tamil Nadu / Puducherry: 160 posts (Language: Tamil)
- Karnataka: 35 posts (Language: Kannada)
- Andhra Pradesh & Telangana: 50 posts (Language: Telugu)
- Maharashtra: 40 posts (Language: Marathi)
- Gujarat: 15 posts (Language: Gujarati)
Candidates can only apply for one state and must demonstrate proficiency in the local language through a mandatory test. Those who do not pass this test will be disqualified from the recruitment process.
Eligibility and Age Criteria
Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age and hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
Salary and Benefits
The selected candidates will be placed on a Scale 1 pay structure with a starting salary of Rs 48,480, which can rise to Rs 85,920, depending on their experience and performance. Additional benefits include Dearness Allowance (DA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), leased accommodation, medical aid, and retirement benefits. Experienced candidates from Scheduled Commercial Banks may receive up to two increments in pay based on their previous roles.
Selection Process
The selection process may include shortlisting applications, followed by an interview or a written/online test and interview. The written/online test will consist of 155 questions, worth 200 marks, to be completed in three hours. The exam will cover Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation. A penalty of 1/4th of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

- SC/ST/PWBD Candidates: Rs 175 (including GST)
- All Other Candidates: Rs 1,000 (including GST)
The selected candidates will undergo a two-year probation period during which they will serve in their chosen state for up to 12 years or until they are promoted to the SMGS-IV Grade.
