Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated Project ODISERV, a collaborative effort between NSDC and Bajaj Finserv, aimed at enhancing the employability of youth, especially first-generation graduates, in Odisha. Here’s a breakdown of the key highlights of this initiative.
Empowering Youth Through Skill Development
Project ODISERV, launched at Gangadhar Meher University in Sambalpur, Odisha, seeks to empower youth by enhancing their skills and making them more employable. The project targets graduates from tier-II and tier-III cities, offering them training in the Certificate Programme for Banking Finance & Insurance (CPBFI) by Bajaj Finserv.
Duration and Scope
The training program spans 100 hours, providing comprehensive instruction in various aspects of the financial services sector. It aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue employment opportunities in this field.
Minister’s Vision
Minister Pradhan emphasized the importance of initiatives like Project ODISERV in realizing the aspirations of the youth and harnessing India’s demographic dividend. He highlighted the role of skill development in achieving the nation’s goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy.
Impact and Progress
Over 1100 students in Odisha have already undergone training through Project ODISERV, with several of them securing job offers as a result. This indicates the tangible impact and effectiveness of the initiative in bridging the gap between education and employment.
Partnership and Collaboration
The collaboration between NSDC and Bajaj Finserv underscores the commitment of both organizations to promoting skill development and youth empowerment. The involvement of industry experts, training partners, and educational institutions further enhances the quality and relevance of the training program.
Expanding Reach
With plans to involve 60 colleges across 11 cities and 10 districts in Odisha, Project ODISERV is set to reach a wide demographic of aspiring youth. This expansion reflects the initiative’s ambition to address the skill gap prevalent in various regions and sectors.
