The Secretary of the UP Board, Divya Kant Shukla, has communicated to the District Inspector Of Schools (DIOS) not to designate 253 schools as examination centres for the upcoming 2024 board exams. The decision impacts various districts, including Prayagraj, Aligarh, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Agra, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Ballia, and Bahraich. The final list of examination centres is set to be released on December 10 through the official UP Board website – https://upmsp.edu.in/.
Exclusion of Schools and Reasons
As per the directive, a maximum of 36 schools in Prayagraj, along with others in different districts, are deemed ineligible as examination centres. This decision aligns with the state board’s stringent regulations. The reduction in exam venues, from 8753 to 7864, is attributed to last year’s strict measures, where 432 schools were excluded, including those with irregularities and those flagged in the Special Task Force (STF) report.
Registration Numbers and Student Statistics
The registration window for UP Board exams closed on October 10, with a noteworthy decrease of 3.76 lakh students compared to the previous year. A total of 55,08,206 students, including 29,47,324 for high school and 25 lakh for intermediate, have completed the registration process for the exams scheduled in January-February 2024.
