Jammu And Kashmir: Free Coaching For NEET, JEE Launched For Tribal Students

Jammu: According to officials, the Jammu and Kashmir Tribal Affairs Department on Tuesday unveiled a groundbreaking programme to offer tutoring to deserving tribal students preparing for the NEET and JEE admission exams. According to them, the department will cover the cost of the training, and those who pass the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) after receiving coaching will also be given scholarships.

100 tribal kids would be chosen under two distinct sub-schemes, according to Tribal Affairs Department Secretary Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, for NEET coaching at government-approved coaching facilities. In the first year of the programme, which is being carried out by the educational arm of the Tribal Research Institute, there are two sub-schemes: “Host-50” for hostellers and “Top-50” for other tribal excellent students.

After attendance and performance have been confirmed, Mr. Choudhary stated that the department would sponsor the coaching fee for NEET and JEE at specific institutes. The candidate will receive an annual scholarship of Rs 70,000-75,000, or roughly Rs 4 lakh, for programmes like MBBS, BVSc and AH, BDS, BAMS, BE, BTech, and other professional courses, he said.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration, according to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, recently stated that it gives the education of tribal pupils high priority and is establishing numerous programmes to support and provide for their quality education. The tribal affairs department has introduced a NEET/JEE coaching programme with immediate effect, according to the secretary, in keeping with initiatives like the Technology-Enabled Education Scheme, an increase in meal fees, and higher dormitory tuition prices.

According to Abdul Khabir, Deputy Director (Administration), Tribal Research Institute, the “Top-50” sub-scheme has solicited applications from deserving tribal kids, and 50 of the children who received the best marks—more than 80% on the Class 12 board exam—will be chosen for coaching.

Students who are registered in hostels will be chosen through a screening test under the “Host-50” sub-scheme, according to Mr. Khabir. According to him, there is no income restriction for the coaching programme, but the department has announced a 50% quota for female students in the hostel category and 25% of the seats in the “Top-50” NEET programme are designated for female students.
