Delhi govt schools: Soon CCTV cameras to be installed, live feed to be shared with parents

NEW DELHI: The government schools of Delhi are soon going to install CCTV cameras in the classrooms and the live feed will be shared with students’ parents. The Kejriwal-led government in 2019 announced the installation of CCTV cameras in all the government schools of Delhi and share the live feeds with parents.

“The PWD is executing the project of construction of classrooms and schools and there is a plan of installing CCTVs in classrooms. There is also a plan to share the feed with the parents. This is all the education department’s brainchild we are merely executing it,” a source told PTI.

“The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and also ensure transparency in the teaching system. The education department’s plan says that sharing feed with parents will ensure transparency and let them know what their kid is studying,” the source added.

“After getting consent from the parents and guardians, the principals will compile the student details in an excel format and submit it to the PWD which will upload the details in the software,” a source said.

As per the officials, to see the CCTV live footage the parents would be given a login ID and passwords individually. Only the parents who have signed the consent forms will be provided login credentials. Moving on, the PWD will be updating students’ details and their parent’s phone numbers and the data will be collected by government schools in their software.
